The Synthætica name was conceived during the late 1990’s to describe a set of programming methodologies Dawnne used as an interconnected systems programmer, and which fell into disuse when he transitioned to full-time photography. Since that time, Synthætica has symbolized Dawnne’s creative efforts to the extent that Synthætica became one of Dawnne’s online personas, which he limits to his efforts in testing software for various companies.

Dawnne’s first blog in early 2005 was named Synthætic Synapse, and was largely dedicated to sharing his creative endeavors and humor. In early 2007, Synthætic Synapse was split into two separate blogs and eventually moved to the Wordpress platform: Hidden Light (which was later renamed to perpetual dawnne and moved to Dawnne’s “vanity” domain) and the otherwhirled.

As the brand name of Dawnne’s digitographic endeavors, Synthætica represents the reality that the original digitographs can be reproduced via several different methods in a virtually endless array of filtering and other digital treatments, which Dawnne refers to as “versioning”. At the launching of this website, selections of three specific examples of versioning were included, which are linked below. More information on versioning is found here.
