Artist’s Note: During our first months here in South Dakota, we were treated to skies that I’ve never seen the likes of since, nor had I seen during our more-than-annual visits of years past. I’ve always found clouds to be very moving, having grown up in central Texas, where thunderstorms were quite common. I’ve come, over the years, to interpret and admire clouds as a form of nature’s self-expression. These rolling turbulences moved over us with a seemingly gentle speed that obscured the magnitude of the power that was within them. I played a bit with localized contrasting to bring out their esoteric patterns, but that is all I altered. |
